Science in the News
Requirements -
1. Students must use at least one source from which they find their current event. Sources include but are not limited to a newspaper or a magazine. Remember - science isn't only found in the "science" section. Sometimes it can be front page news!
2. Students' current events should be limited to one sheet of lined or computer paper. On the paper there should be a short summary.
Correctly cite any internet sources. http://citationmachine.net/ - my favorite citation site. Click, APA in the margin and then Web Page to create your citation. This citation is required and is part of your grade.
3. Make sure you know when you are scheduled to give your presentation!
Rubric - What is your grade based upon?
1 - Creativity counts! A cool topic and bright colors will make a much more interesting current event (20 points) ________
2 - Knowledge of the scientific content in the current event - if there is a word or topic you do not understand - look it up! You should be able to explain all of the information in your article. (30 points) ________
3 - Complete summary included, as well as bibliography. Everything should be in your own words or include citations. (30 points) ________
3 - Presentation - did you describe your current event well -do we now know about the topic you have chosen? (20 points) ________
